We are teaming up with food charity FareShare to help combat hunger and food waste in the UK, through sales of a limited edition Canderel® 75g jar. The campaign, launching in March centres on the message that ‘everyone deserves sweetness in their lives’.
With 5p from every sale, between 01.03.18 – 31.05.18, of the limited edition 75g Canderel® Granules jar donated to FareShare, the campaign will provide 100,000 meals for people in need.
FareShare is the UK’s largest food charity tackling hunger and food waste, by redistributing good food that would otherwise go to waste, to frontline charities and community groups that support vulnerable people – including homeless shelters, children’s breakfast clubs, and lunch clubs for older people.
To support the activity, Merisant Company has teamed up with ten UK food and lifestyle bloggers to create a ‘left-overs’ recipe book featuring Canderel® products. Available to download through the microsite, the book includes a selection of sweet and savoury recipes using ingredients that so often end up going to waste. The activity will also be amplified through social media encouraging consumers to reduce food waste and support the campaign using #DoSomethingGreat.
Simona Mantovani, Marketing Manager says, “Food waste in the UK is at an all-time high and yet so many families are in need. We are proud to be supporting FareShare as they work to reduce food waste and hunger. We believe that everyone deserves sweetness in life and through the sales of our limited-edition Canderel jar, we can do our bit to help provide meals to those in need.”
Lindsay Boswell, CEO of FareShare says: “We are thrilled to be working with Canderel to raise awareness of food waste and hunger. At a time when 8.4 million people in the UK struggle to put food on the table, we should not be wasting any food that is still fit to eat. Through this campaign, FareShare will be able to redistribute enough food for 100,000 meals. This could be for children who would otherwise turn up to school without breakfast, older people who go to their local lunch club to stop feeling lonely, or people who are homeless and need a hot cooked meal to get them through the day. So thank you in advance for everyone who takes part in the campaign, your support is greatly needed.”
Merisant will donate 5p from each sale of its Canderel® 75g Jar to FareShare between 01.03.18 – 31.05.18, for a total value of £25,000 (to provide 100,000 meals for people in need)*. The limited edition Canderel® Jars are available from supermarkets nationwide.
